The Lonely Architect
A downloadable game for Windows
The Lonely Architect is a 2D atmospheric platformer that delves into the subconscious of an overworked architect struggling with isolation. This debut game from Odaro Eguavoen, solo developer behind Ekosodi Games, started off as a demo which won a Top 25 Finalist position in the ‘Safe In Our World’ 2024 Game Jam.
Using a series of eerie spaces and landscapes, a desolate atmosphere becomes the backdrop to this minimalist game.
The game has two game modes:
Build Mode:
A 2D block building mode. Use a series of blocks to create unique architectural structures and illustrations in an empty, grid-based world.
Story Mode:
This mode visually illustrates the narrative behind the game through a series of platform puzzles spread across four acts:
ACT 1: Emptiness | ACT 2: Heaviness
ACT 3: Who Am I? | ACT 4: Where is Home?
Each act explores a different theme and point in the architect's journey towards and out of loneliness through surreal environmental storytelling.
As you explore these different aspects of his mind, you encounter reflections of his mental state and the obstacles he faces, leading to an unusual epiphany.
"I adore the abstract artwork and surrealist interpretation of the mind – visually this game really stands out! The puzzles were engaging and is certainly one I’d like to see developed further." - Safe In Our World (Commenting on the demo - Link to Quote)
And so...I developed it further! :D
