'The Lonely Architect - Pieces of Him' is the demo for the 'The Lonely Architect', a 2D atmospheric platformer that delves into the subconscious of an overworked architect struggling with isolation. As you explore different aspects of his mind, you encounter reflections of his mental state and the obstacles he faces. This short demo is a glimpse into a larger project I’ve been developing since June, with plans to expand it further.
Hello, I’m Odaro Eguavoen, a Nigerian architect and now game developer. This project is somewhat autobiographical, drawing from my own experiences while maintaining a sense of anonymity. The music I composed helps illustrate the atmosphere the game creates and compliments the emptiness of the space, mirroring the mind and heart of the architect. I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
(Update) Great news! This demo made it to the Top 25 finalists for the Safe In Our World 'Mental Health Game Dev Champions 2024' game jam. Even After months of hard work its still crazy and humbling for my debut to get recognised. Even though this is just the beginning, its an amazing way to start :)

It was good, but it'd be a little easier to play if it supported a controller. I only got a little further than the point with the falling debris. Also in the opening cutscene, when you lay down on the bed, you can continue moving and so it looks like you're laying down in the middle of the air
Thank you so much for the feedback, I'm glad you got to experience a significant portion of the game. For the next version I'm definitely going to use a more cohesive input system so there is controller support. May I ask why you stopped a little further than the falling debris? Was it frustration from keyboard controls or a bug? Thanks again, this is my first piece of feedback so it honestly means a lot.
just frustration from the keyboard controls I guess. I thought there was a bug where you couldn't jump after the background inverted color but it turns out it was intentional and you were supposed to dash across
